The story so far
Cedar Mingle is a dating app for Cedarville students, built by a Cedarville alum. This is its second run, and this time it's here to stay.
How it started
In the summer of 2020, in the middle of the lockdowns, Trevor Loula spent about seven weeks building a dating app for his own campus. Cedar Mingle launched a couple of weeks into the fall semester of his senior year.
Then a lot of you showed up
Nobody expected what happened next. About one in eight Cedarville students made an account, and for a while Cedar Mingle was the talk of the school.
Why it went quiet
It was a side project built by one student in his last year. After graduation there was nobody on campus to keep it going, so it sat untouched while the classes that remembered it moved on.
Why it's back
People kept bringing it up, even years later. Over and over they said they wished Cedar Mingle were still around to help them, someone they know, or their kids meet someone. So Trevor finally decided to bring it back.
He has built a lot of apps since 2020, so this time he knows what he's doing and the tools are far better. Cedar Mingle has been rebuilt from scratch, and it's built to keep running for every class that comes next, not just one.
Who's behind it
Cedar Mingle is run by HydrOxygen Labs, LLC, and isn't affiliated with Cedarville University. Questions, ideas or a story from the first time around? Email [email protected].
